June Note from John Hutchison
With Summer around the corner, the course is starting to take shape. We have been able to put a seasonal staff together to help us through these busy times. Mother Nature keeps giving us more moisture than we need right now. Please remember to repair all your ball marks, especially when greens are this soft.
The staff has also edged and manicured all bunkers giving them a professional appearance. I’ve noticed more and more unattended
footprints left in sand traps. There are days we go out to rake bunkers and it appears that no one has raked in days, but they were done the morning prior. Raking your own footprints is a courtesy to your fellow golfers and good golf etiquette.
The increased staff has also allowed us to increase mowing frequencies and levels to round course into tournament ready conditions. The weeds on pond banks, roadsides and entire course have been addressed both preventative and post emergent. All in-play areas have been fertilized to thicken the turfgrass stand and make driving accuracy that much more important.
The hitting area by the practice green will be a nice addition. We have also started with staff repairing divots on a daily schedule. I would appreciate a better effort on all players’ part with repairing of divots and ball marks.
Have a great summer! And to those playing Member-Guest, good luck!
